Pictures from the weekend of November 9, 2018 of the #CampFire smoke descending upon the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area.
Despite the smoke, we are able to get pictures of Mars, the #Moon and #Saturn hanging out over downtown #San Francisco Sunday night and the "Fire Sunset" over Oakland.
We also included pictures of residents attempting to mitigate the smoke by wearing masks and other unusual devices.
The Camp Fire starting burning last Thursday near Paradise, California (about 200 miles North of #Oakland and near Chico, CA) and quickly exploded into a raging inferno flamed by 50 mph gusts, increasing from 600 acres to over 20,000 acres in less than 4 hours.
The speed on the inferno was evident in Oakland when smoke from the Camp Fire reached the Bay Area in record speed (be sure to check out our photo blog “The Camp Fire Effect”).
We will post more pictures as we see them.
