The Oakland Running Festival has become a long standing tradition in Oakland and changes it route every year.
This year, for instance, the running course ignored East Oakland and concentrated on West Oakland, Lake Merritt and the Downtown areas.
In addition, for the first time ever, the course went over the eastern portion of the Bay Bridge.
Despite some push back from residents, upset at losing their prized parking spots during the
the Sunday hours, for the most part-the runners were cheered on by residents as they made their way around the city.
