#Oakland celebrated a unique Saturday afternoon the weekend of July 28-29 with three major outdoor festivals; Oakland Art and Soul rocking the Oakland downtown for its 18th year, Fresh Jamz blasting out cool non-stop tune by Lake Merritt, and the lovable bike festival Pedalfest assuming families in the Jack London Square area.
Somehow we managed to attend all three festivals the Saturday of the 28th.
Oakland Art and Soul had its 18th year event rocking the Oakland downtown area with an amazing Saturday lineup that included East Bay musical legend “The #JazzMafia” and hip-hop musical guru “#LyricsBorn,” out of Berkeley California.
Patrons were also treated to the funky sounds of “Samba Funk” who led fans around the festival grounds with a non-stop dancing parade.
From a photography standpoint, the Art and Soul is a cool event that is very friendly to the photography crowd. There aren’t many gated festivals that allow shutterbugs to bring in high-powered photo equipment and shoot away with freedom. This means, depending on the line-up, you might get the change to get photos of world famous A-list talent.
